What Do Tee Jayes, Cakeballs Ga-Lori, and Mojoflo Have in Common?

Neil and Eric went on an overnight trip to a party.  I was invited too, but I decided to stay at home as they said there would be a lot of people there.  It's not a very pretty sight to see all of those feet and legs in one place!

We were in Columbus recently for my nephew Bryce's high school graduation party.  We stayed overnight and continued our tradition of meeting at Tee Jayes Country Place Restaurant for breakfast before returning home.  Tee Jayes is one of those standbys that serve up traditional breakfast fare in a variety of ways at a reasonable price.

Breakfast at Tee Jayes
There were six of us dining on Sunday morning at the Hamilton Road location (one of nine in Central Ohio).  We were greeted at the door by the manager and graciously seated at a round table by the hostess.  The décor is country, 80's style.  Nothing wrong with that as it works with the down home style.  Coffee and drinks were immediately offered by our waitperson and our orders were cookin'.  We had a sampling of five different plates among us.  Everyone was pleased and it got rather quiet when our selections were delivered.

Corned Beef Hash
I had my usual, the Corned Beef Hash, which is always smooth and served with
three any-style eggs (I chose sunny side up), country fried potatoes, and biscuits (very flaky) or toast.  The rest of our favorites are pictured below.  Service was fast and efficient with all of the waitstaff pitching in to keep the coffee cups filled.  If I have one complaint, it would be that the coffee could be darker and richer.  A slight imperfection that's basically overlooked by the friendly service and accompanying conversation.  Family has that affect on easing reviews.

Chicken Fried Steak

Tee Jayes also serves lunch and dinner featuring country specialties (served with a large selection of side dishes), salads, sandwiches, Italian dishes, and senior specials.  It's a country diner that is well worth a visit.  You'll feel right at home, but you won't have to do the cookin'.

Cakeballs Ga-Lori
After the graduation party, we wanted to sample the cake balls that Bryce's Aunt Lori had placed in the refrigerator earlier.  She has a Columbus area business named "Cakeballs Ga-Lori".  I had my eyes on them all day.  I knew that cakeballs were one of the hottest crazes to hit the bakery world, so I was more than eager to try them along with all of the remaining guests.  They're round centers of cake mix and frosting dipped in chocolate or hard candy shells of various flavors.  The best description for them is cake truffles.  Bryce's school colors were black and gold so Lori made several to honor his alma mater with chocolate and lemon as the center flavors.  There was also carrot cake, mint chocolate, dark chocolate, and white cake with confetti covering.  They were all dense and rich with distinctive flavors.  We all felt they are worthy for celebrating any occasion from kids' birthdays to anniversaries to graduations to holiday parties.  Good luck, Lori, with your venture!

MoJoFlo
As we came to find out, Lori is the mother of Jake who is the drummer for MoJofFlo, Columbus' big band/blues group that we follow whenever we can.  Their sound is distinctive, and the group of seven (six guys, and a female lead singer) well deserve the recognition they're receiving.
